On 28 February, at 2pm, Universidade Europeia is hosting the discussion group Building a Unified Vision: Crafting an Effective ODEI Training Framework for Academia in the ChallengeEU Alliance, a hybrid event that will take place online and in Room A18, at Quinta do Bom Nome Campus.

This discussion forum aims to establish a structured but adaptable Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (ODEI) training framework that aligns faculty competences, institutional strategies and priorities as well as key Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) themes, ensuring, in the long term, a significant impact in all academic contexts.

In this forum, those responsible for the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (ODEI) will give a presentation of approximately 10 minutes on one of the key topics, then open up the discussion to summarise the main ideas:

Establishing Educator Competencies for DEI

  • What fundamental skills and knowledge should educators develop for effective DEI integration?
  • How do we balance institutional goals with individual faculty needs and availability?

Top-Down Meets Bottom-Up: Aligning Strategy with Implementation

  • How can a structured, institution-led approach ensure real classroom impact?
  • What role do ODEI officers play in bridging policy and daily teaching practice?

Defining Key DEI Topics for Academic Training

  • What are the most pressing DEI issues in higher education today?
  • How do we ensure training covers both foundational principles and emerging challenges?

Institutional Support & Faculty Engagement

  • What incentives and support systems encourage educators to prioritize DEI training?
  • How can we integrate DEI training into existing faculty development programs?

Creating Flexible and Scalable Training Models

  • What hybrid and digital solutions can enhance accessibility and engagement?
  • How do we structure training to accommodate varying levels of DEI familiarity?

Measuring Effectiveness & Ensuring Continuous Improvement

  • What assessment tools and feedback mechanisms should be included in the framework?
  • How do we track the long-term impact of DEI training on institutional culture and student experience?
