The European University is celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Tourism and Hospitality area, marking a journey of six decades since the launch of the pioneering Tourism course in 1964. To celebrate this historic moment, the EU brought together at a dinner at the Museu do Oriente some of the people who have been part of this journey, including the current Secretary of State for Tourism, Pedro Machado.
"Fortunately we have an incredible story to share, which over the years has trained thousands of tourism professionals who represent the sector so well at national and international level. Tourism in Portugal has shown exceptional results and the European University reaffirms its desire to continue contributing to quality training in tourism higher education in Portugal,” says Sofia Almeida, Coordinator of the tourism and hospitality area at the European University.
The event brought together the sector's main stakeholders, namely the current Secretary of State for Tourism, Pedro Machado, and two of his predecessors Ana Mendes Godinho and Nuno Fazenda, representatives of the sector's main associations and organizations, tourism entrepreneurs and other partners.
As part of the 60th anniversary celebrations, the European University aims to enhance the tourism sector in Portugal and strengthen its role as an active agent in promoting and disseminating the areas of Tourism and Hospitality in Portugal.
The European University's Tourism and Hotel Management courses stand out for their innovative academic model, which combines face-to-face classes with digital content, offering a flexible and personalized learning experience. These courses are also recognized for the unique approach that integrates the most advanced technology with human knowledge, preparing students to achieve their professional goals.
Currently, the European University offers well-established programs in the field of Tourism and Hospitality, such as the three degrees in Tourism, Tourism (100% taught in English) and Hotel Management, the Master's in Tourism Management and three face-to-face Postgraduate Courses in Hotel Management, Creative Gastronomy and Image, Protocol and Event Organization and 2 Distance Learning Postgraduate Courses in Hotel Management and Events.
