Universidade Europeia is one of the co-organizers, in partnership with the University of Coimbra and the Università della Svizzera italiana (Lugano, Switzerland), of the 11th edition of the "Winter School", this year with the theme "Digital Media for Tourism in Creative Cities: Experiences from the Center of Portugal".
The 2024 edition, which will take place in Portugal from February 11 to 18, aims to develop and promote sustainable tourism in territories that have identified creativity as a strategic factor for sustainable urban development, through Crafts and Popular Art, Media Arts, Cinema, Design, Gastronomy, Literature and Music.
Participants will thus have the opportunity to visit six Portuguese cities - Coimbra, Caldas da Rainha, Leiria, Fátima, Óbidos and Lisbon -, get to know the intangible heritage of these cities, take part in lectures and develop group work to respond to real tourism challenges in each of these municipalities.
This initiative is promoted by the UNESCO Chair in Information, Communication and Technology at the University of Lugano and is aimed at doctoral students, researchers and professionals in the fields of tourism and heritage.
The theme also marks the 20th anniversary of UNESCO's "Creative Cities" program, which already includes 300 cities worldwide, nine of which are located in Portugal, namely Idanha-a-Nova, Óbidos, Amarante, Barcelos, Braga, Leiria, Caldas da Rainha, Santa Maria da Feira and Covilhã.
